Diabetes Day 2021 Preliminary Schedule

Please join us for Diabetes Day! This will be a two part virtual event, focused on trainees, and is the last event in the 2020-2021 academic year Diabetes and Metabolism Seminar Series calendar.

Part 1 – TRAINEE EVENT* – Trainee Career Panel with Break Out Discussions. Wednesday May 19th, 9am-noon (Registration required – links and details will be forthcoming)

All trainees/junior faculty are encouraged to attend this session and participate in small group sessions with our career panelists. This is a great networking opportunity, please disseminate this invitation widely.

Part 2 – Scientific Program; Celebration of Trainees’ Research. Wednesday May 26th, 9-noon (Registration required – links and details will be forthcoming)

This includes a keynote address by Doris Stoffers from U Penn, our Trainee of the Year seminars and an interactive poster session (submit poster titles by Wednesday May 19th to participate), with the Brunzell Award being awarded for best trainee poster.

* Part 1 is intended for trainees and junior faculty. Part 2 is open for all.

Poster Session (open to all trainees and faculty)

For the poster session, we will use Gather.Town, a virtual meeting place where people can walk around and “meet” in front of posters where you can also interact one-on-one with people that are interested in your poster (https://gather.town/). More information will be sent out shortly.

When you make your poster we would like you to consider using #Betterposter, a newer way to make a poster with less text and more focus on a clear take home message. Part of our judging criteria will be based on this – so try it! For more information see Mike Morrison’s YouTube video about it (he’s the founder of #betterposter): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYk29tnxASs
