UWMDI Investigator Kimberly Alonge, PhD, awarded ADA Fellowship

Dr. Kimberly Alonge has been awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship award from the American Diabetes Association for her project entitled “Novel role of hypothalamic extracellular matrices in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes.” This 3-year project seeks to advance the understanding of the functional significance of sulfated hypothalamic glycosaminoglycans in mediating blood glucose homeostasis. Dr. Alonge is a postdoctoral fellow of Medicine in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Schwartz.
