Dr. Jenny Kanter, Research Assistant Professor (Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition), has received an award for $388,300 from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases for her R01 project “APOC3 mediated dyslipidemia in diabetic kidney disease and atherosclerosis.” Dr. Charles Alpers, Professor (Department of Pathology) is a Co-Investigator. The goal of the project is to determine if renal impairment, via APOC3-mediated dyslipidemia, contributes to diabetes-accelerated atherosclerosis and if APOC3-mediated dyslipidemia itself augments diabetic kidney disease.
