Clinical Research

Improving medical treatments to effectively prevent, diagnose and treat diabetes. Clinical trials at the UWMDI seek to evaluate prevention strategies developed by our basic and translational research programs.

Clinical Research Unit

The CRU is an essential service of the Diabetes Institute. We provide physical and staffing infrastructure for human research studies, connect patients with convenient access to cutting-edge clinical trials and make high-quality research accessible and affordable for clinicians and early-career investigators alike. For our patients, this means access to state-of-the-art clinical trials right here in Seattle—without having to travel to distant academic medical centers. The CRU is a research facility dedicated to the conduct of human studies investigating diabetes and related disorders. CRU services are available to all UW researchers on a fee-for-service basis. We offer resources and services that include facility and room use, research coordinator support, research nursing support, blood draws, clamp services, and performance of body composition by DXA. We also offer full-service support: from study design to regulatory approval and study conduct. The mission of the UWMDI CRU is to aid UW Researchers studying diabetes and related disorders by providing accessible study services and resources.

To utilize CRU services, a short application is required describing your study and the services you plan to use.

To discuss your study needs and apply for use of the CRU, please contact us at dicru@uw.edu!
