COVERED Registry

Important Update

COVID-19 is severely affecting the lives of patients with diabetes. The COVERED Registry is therefore dedicating time and resources to assist in research efforts toward the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. As a Registry of community members willing to be contacted about research, COVERED is uniquely positioned to connect UW researchers with research volunteers.

These opportunities will be available to people living with and without diabetes.

If you or someone you know would consider participating in COVID-19 related research or other research studies, please use this link to begin the enrollment process.

Welcome!

The UW Medicine Diabetes Institute is the proud home of the COVERED Registry. COVERED stands for Community of Volunteers Engaged in Research to End Diabetes. The goal of this patient registry is to connect people interested in diabetes care with researchers studying diabetes and other related disorders. By joining together, we can speed progress toward developing better treatments and a cure!

We welcome all community members who are interested in diabetes and are at least 18 years of age. People living with or without diabetes (type 1 or 2) are encouraged to join! If you’d like to learn more, scroll down to see what being a COVERED volunteer entails. If you are already a COVERED volunteer, scroll down to see current studies that are actively recruiting participants!

What would I do as a COVERED volunteer?

  • Tell us about yourself! Provide us with information regarding your health by filling out our health intake survey. This will allow us to contact you about studies that you may be eligible to participate in.

  • Participate in research! COVERED volunteers can choose to be contacted about and enroll in UW studies investigating diabetes and other related disorders. Your contact information will not be shared with any third parties and you will only be contacted by COVERED personnel in regard to diabetes research. All study participation is voluntary, and you can opt out of participation or contact at any time.

  • Go beyond! Want to learn more about the research going on at the Diabetes Institute? Want to connect to other patients who share your concerns? Don’t have time to volunteer but still want to support an end to diabetes? Scroll further down to see more ways you can get involved!

Interested in Enrolling?

You can start your enrollment process by completing our COVERED Eligibility Survey linked below! This survey takes only about a minute to complete and will allow us to determine if you are eligible to join the registry. Once the survey is completed, we at COVERED will review the submission and contact you further regarding your eligibility status. If you are deemed eligible to join the registry, we will then provide you with online forms necessary to join COVERED, including a consent form and health intake survey. Filling out these forms only takes 5-10 minutes of your time. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 206-616-6858 or covered@uw.edu.
