University of Washington (UW) LatinX Diabetes Clinic is seeking to hire an artist.

The UW LatinX Diabetes Clinic and UW Latino Center for Health is in the search for an artist, graphic designer, and/or illustrator to create a custom-designed illustration/banner for the UW LatinX Diabetes Clinic.

Established in 2019, the LatinX Diabetes Clinic aims to provide exceptional, culturally responsive diabetes care for Spanish- and English-speaking LatinX patients in Washington State, irrespective of their insurance status or ability to pay. The clinic is located at the Diabetes Institute in South Lake Union, 750 Republican Street, Seattle. In our continuous efforts to strengthen our connection with the Latinx communities we serve, we are seeking an original image or illustration/banner, to be the visual representation of the UW LatinX Diabetes Clinic in healthcare fairs and other community outreach events.

Applications are welcome from artists residing in Washington, regardless of their level of experience or formal education in the art field.

The hired applicant will be asked to create an original piece depicting Hispanic culture/heritage and health, family and/or community and to describe the background, art, and inspiration behind the design. The artist will be recognized in the UW Department of Medicine news and associated social media platforms and will be paid $1,000 USD total.

IMPORTANT DATES: Application Deadline: October 4th, 2023, 11.59pm PDT.

The artist who is hired will be notified via email and announced on October 9th, 2023, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day as part of the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month.

The artist will assign all rights to the University of Washington by signing a copyright agreement and a work for hire document.

SUBMISSION INFORMATION: Email your application (CV) along with your contact information (name and phone number) and 2 to 3 examples of your work with explanation of the pieces to lorenaac@uw.edu. It is preferred that artwork be in a vector art format (.eps). If that is not possible, it should be at least 300 dpi in any file format.
