Diabetes Stem Cell Program Launched by The Diabetes & Obesity Center of Excellence and The Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine

The Diabetes & Obesity Center of Excellence (DOCE), in partnership with the Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine (ISCRM), is actively moving ahead to create the Diabetes Stem Cell Program (DSCP) at UW Medicine Research at South Lake Union.  The DSCP is the interface between the DOCE and ISCRM.  This collaborative effort will unite investigators and resources across a variety of disciplines in a programmatic effort to develop a cell-based therapy for diabetes.

After a lengthy national and international search, we are pleased to welcome Vincenzo Cirulli MD, PhD and Laura Crisa MD, PhD, as the newest members of the DSCP. Drs. Cirulli and Crisa, along with their Post Doctoral Fellows, Rudolf Pillich and Antonio Jimenez-Caliani, will be joining us the first week of August 2009.
