DOCE researcher Christiane Hampe, PhD, published in Diabetic Medicine

Dr. Christiane Hampe is co-author on the article “Antibodies to islet cell autoantigens, rotaviruses and/or enteroviruses in cord blood and healthy mothers in relation to the 2010–2011 winter viral seasons in Israel: a pilot study” published in Diabetic Medicine. The article focuses on research indicating prenatal exposure to viruses may cause type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune diseases in children. These findings were part of a recent interview with the senior author, Zvi Laron, in the Israeli leading newspaper Yediot Ahronot. The Tel Aviv University summarized the Hebrew interview in English (click here for article). Dr. Hampe is a Research Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition.
