Dr. Christiane Hampe is co-author on the article “Antibodies to islet cell autoantigens, rotaviruses and/or enteroviruses in cord blood and healthy mothers in relation to the 2010–2011 winter viral seasons in Israel: a pilot study” published in Diabetic Medicine. The article focuses on research indicating prenatal exposure to viruses may cause type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune diseases in children. These findings were part of a recent interview with the senior author, Zvi Laron, in the Israeli leading newspaper Yediot Ahronot. Dr. Hampe is a Research Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition.
