Study Location

UW Medicine Diabetes Institute

This is a double-blinded placebo trial planning to learn more about the effects of a medication, semaglutide, on cardiovascular function, kidney function, and insulin sensitivity in adults with type 1 diabetes. Participants will give themselves weekly injections of semaglutide (or placebo) for 8 months. Before starting and after completing the treatment, participants will have a procedure testing kidney function and insulin sensitivity that involves two IVs being placed.  A torso MRI, echocardiogram, and DEXA scan will also be performed for cardiovascular function and body composition. Participants will come in four times while receiving treatment to monitor blood tests and side effects.
