The LatinX community is the largest and fastest growing minority group in the state of Washington and the country. LatinX individuals are disproportionately affected by diabetes. Diabetes affects the LatinX community at a younger age, and LatinX patients are more likely to die from complications of diabetes than white patients. The increased morbidity and mortality in LatinX patients with diabetes is partially due to health care inequities including inadequate access to culturally sensitive health care delivered by a bilingual team.
