Laura Crisa, MD, PhD, is the recipient of a Department of Defense Discovery Award for her project entitled “A vascularized tissue-mimetic platform for modeling pancreatic islet function and disease.” The overall goal of this project is to recreate ex vivo functional islet/vascular units in a microfluidic setup equipped with vascular-like networks.
