Dr. Irl Hirsch, professor (Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition) has received $647,132 from the Helmsley Charitable Trust for the DEfining, Reviewing, and Monitoring skIn pathologieS (DERMIS) study in type 1 diabetes.

Researchers will be assessing skin pathology after many years of insulin pump therapy, which has become of higher importance now in the era of automated insulin delivery (artificial pancreas). Collaborators include Dr. Andrea Kalus (Dermatology) and Ricky Wang (Bioengineering).
