UWMDI Investigator Kimberly Alonge, PhD, recipient of ITHS Early Investigator Catalyst Award

The Institute of Translational Health Sciences has awarded Dr. Kimberly Alonge an Early Investigator Catalyst Award for her project entitled “Investigation of hippocampal heparan sulfates in association with cognitive decline in obesity and T2D.” This 1-year project seeks to develop a novel tandem mass spectrometry method to detect and measure heparan sulfates from hippocampal brain tissue in association with diabetic cognitive decline. Dr. Alonge is a postdoctoral fellow of Medicine in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Schwartz.
