My research interests are on brain regulation of body weight and appetite in children. My goal is to identify and address early-life risk factors that modify brain development and contribute to the occurrence of child obesity and cardiometabolic diseases. Ultimately, I seek to identify protective or modifiable early-life factors with promise to further understanding of intergenerational transmission of obesity. My research has combined distinct MRI techniques to investigate brain structural and functional characteristics in the context of pediatric obesity. My research has been funded by the American Heart Association Career Development Award, the UW Nutrition Obesity Research Center Pilot and Feasibility Award, and the UW Medicine Diabetes Institute Catalyst Award.
